Martin C. Buchanan
Although Martin holds the title of Private Wealth Advisor and Founder of Buchanan Capital Management, he likes to think of himself as more of a financial educator than anything else. Teaching the financial markets to his clients and helping them understand their investments is paramount to Martin. Shortly before graduating from Principia College, Martin traveled to New York City to explore the world of finance. It was there, while shadowing an Advisor at one of the top investment firms in the nation that Martin discovered his future profession. He wanted a career that facilitated autonomy, a flexible schedule, and the ability to help people, so he was grateful to find it early on.
Having had worked at a large Brokerage Firm and an industry leading Private Bank, Martin has been able to glean valuable information from both business models. It was during his time at the Brokerage Firm that he learned the value of open communication and face-to-face interaction. However, Martin couldn’t help but feel restricted when it came to investment choices and compensation options. During his time at the Private Bank, Martin learned the science of portfolio management and advanced planning options, but he took issue with the confusing fee structure and corporate culture.
For these reasons, Martin couldn’t wait to set out on his own and establish a firm that he could be proud of. Martin always says, “knowledge is power, chiefly when action follows.” True to his word, Martin took action forming Buchanan Capital Management, an independent financial services firm. BCM is a direct reflection of Martin’s attempt to provide a clear and logical investment experience at a reasonable cost for his clients. His right motives have led to an overflow in support from friends, family and clients that he is extremely grateful for.
When Martin’s not watching the markets, he enjoys giving back to the community, playing sports, and spending quality time with friends and family. He resides on a small acreage on the outskirts of Oklahoma City with his wife Alexandra, who he roped in from the Northern suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.
As an active member of the community, Martin knows that true success comes from giving back. Here's how he stays involved:
